She makes us laugh

So I'm realizing how much entertainment a 2 year old can bring! Hannah is just full of funny things to say.
Last night we were reading books in the chair, but the TV was on too and a Playtex Tampon commercial came on. It totally caught her attention and she said, "mommy, I like that one!"
Then this morning, we were getting ready to leave and Tony said something to her and she said, "Don't be nasty!" You would only understand how this is funny if you knew that when the terrible 2 year old comes out, I consistantly tell her that. I realized this morning that in fact she DOES hear me say it, but at those terrible moments chooses not to acknowledge what I have said.
Tony called me on the way into work because he wanted to report to me that Hannah's stuff bear pinched her in the car and the bear had to spend the rest of the ride in the front seat with Daddy.
The other day, we were outside and she went running past yelling "YEE HAW" - we cracked up....where the heck did she get that from???
I wish I could remember some other things she has said. All I know is she does keep things entertaining!
Oh, and this weekend, we heard her counting things in Spanish. I really haven't worked on that much with her - not sure if she's getting it from daycare of Dora, but after she counted in English, all of a sudden I heard uno, dos, tres, quatro, cinco...she stops there, but I was sure impressed!

The "Relaxing" Holiday Weekend

So whatever happened to the long holiday weekends filled with "fun" stuff to do???

I started this weekend by falling asleep on the couch by 7:30 Friday night. Guess that says something about my week!

Saturday, the little alarm clock was singing in her bed bright and early...around 7:00 or so. She came to our bed to watch TV while we tried to sleep a little longer. I got her packed and dressed to go spend the night at Grandma and Grandpa's so we could get all of our plans accomplished without her "help".

This is one of Hannah's favorite lullaby's that she has dubbed "mommy buy". Sorry about having to hear her kicking the stool to the chair...that's quite annoying!

Anyway, after that entertainment, Hannah left and Tony and I got started to work in the yard. It's times like this that the joys of home ownership are painfully (literally) blatent!

Tony cut the grass and I pulled weeds and pulled weeds. I forgot to take the before pictures - of course I thought of that as day 1 was concluding and by then it was too late. I continually cursed the bad mulch we got a couple of years ago. I cut down a really ugly cone shaped evergreen on the side of our house near the deck. We are going to just plant grass there since the only thing that seems to thrive are the weeds. I figure just running it down with the mower seems like a much better plan. Then I headed to the weed jungle in the back yard. We had planned on ripping out the flower (weed) bed on the side in the back, but after I got rid of all the weeds and saw the iris' there and also realized how much more work it would be to rip out the bed, we decided to just spray some mega-weed killer and leave the bed. Hopefully the maintenance won't be that bad. I also nearly had a heart attack as 3 baby bunnies decided to jump out from their cozy little nest among my weeds! They were cute, but they had better stay away from my flowers in the front or else!! Next was on to the island in the back yard - a million and one weeds there, I counted! And then finally around the deck. That poor deck is totally falling apart, we really need to fix it. Whoever built it did a pretty shotty job. I guess that's our next big project to save for. Anyway, Tony cut down part of our lilac tree. It's dying and growing a bit out of control, so he trimmed it down quite a bit. I sprayed round up everywhere and after we hauled all the brush out to the driveway, we finally called it a day.

We treated ourselves to a nice dinner at J Bella for our anniversary. I was the bad guy this year - no card. We said no gifts and as the day approached, we also said no cards, but Tony got one and made me feel bad that I didn't. Sorry Tony! We were both pretty tired so we just headed home and I managed to beat him in two rounds of poker. He wasn't too pleased with losing his straight to my full house, so that was the end of that!! Off to bed I went!

We woke up early (for some stupid reason) around 7:30 Sunday morning. Our bodies were aching and we still had a lot of work to do. We were out the door by 9 to go pick up our U-haul pick up truck...this cost us about $45, but so worth it to do what we needed to get done!

We went to get 2 yards of mulch - hopefully weed free! We got it spread around all of our beds in about 2 hours. Then we loaded up all the brush and yard waste we had and took it to our city recycling center. We had 2 very full loads. We got back and cleaned up the rest of the mess and I seeded the side of the house where I ripped out that ugly tree and laid down straw.

Here's the outcome of our efforts, which looks great and I'm sure will be worth the hard work and body aches. And, I forgot to mention, it was all done without ONE SINGLE arguement!!! An accomplishment in itself!

Then we showered and returned the truck and drove to my mom's. We had dinner and hung out on the deck. It was so nice to sit in the warm weather and enjoy the summer coming. We were both so tired, well all three of us were, by the time we left that no one wanted to drive the 40 minutes home. Thank goodness Hannah volunteered!

We luckily slept in until around 8:30 Monday morning, which was surprising because a thunderstorm rolled in around 7 and I thought for sure Hannah would wake up screaming. She slept right through it thank God! The weather got nicer and nicer as the day went on. I had to go grocery shopping and then came home to make macaroni salad. When Hannah woke up from her nap, we played outside for a while. She went for a bike ride - she's really getting pretty good.

And then there was a round of golf in the front yard.

Unfortunately, Hannah took a spill on the driveway and scraped her knee. She needed a "boo-boo ban-baid" to make it better.

And then lastly, the dogs came out to play for a little bit too. Cody can't behave on his own, but Roman really enjoys sitting in the grass hanging out.

We cooked brats and then hung out - finally, relaxing on this Memorial Day!

Cheers: Yeah for David Cook winning American Idol! I was pleasantly surprised.
Jeers: Tony paid $3.98 for gas today.

Cheers: Hannah ate her entire dinner tonight (a fish fillet, corn and rice)
Jeers: She also spent the first part of the evening in time out and didn't get to play outside because she can't listen!

Cheers: Thursday is Mine and Tony's 4th Anniversary.
Jeers: Neither of us have visited a card store!!

Cheers: The weather might feel like May soon.
Jeers: The Muckelheads are back!!!

Ok, so I thought this idea for a post would be good, but I'm seriously out of cheers for today! Kinda sad that I can only come up with 4! I guess this finale week all sounded like a great thing on Sunday, but I forgot that it involved staying up past my bedtime most nights. I'm so tired!

Have I warped by child??

OK, so there a couple funny things that I have to tell about Hannah. I wonder if I'm a good influence or not? Not really, but I seem to be passing on some of my quirky habits to her unintentionally.
Last night, Tony was giving her a bath. When it was time to get out, she didn't want to because she was "still busy cleaning". She wipes the walls down with her washcloth and actually REALLY enjoys doing it! He said, "come on Mary, you don't have to always be cleaning something" and dragged her out of the tub!
This morning, I handed her shoes to her to take them downstairs to get ready to go. She happened to look at the bottom of them and freaked out because there was dirt of them. She did not want to wear them because they were dirty. She told Tony she needed to buy new shoes because this pair (which are 2 weeks old) were dirty (on the bottom)! I like that she appreciates things to be clean, but have I gone too far with setting the expectation for her?? YIKES!

So this morning, Hannah was in the bathroom with me while I was doing my hair. I've always wondered what her hair would like like straight, so I ran my straightening iron through it!! I've been wanting to do it, but I hadn't really had the opportunity and didn't want it to seem weird to do anything drastic to a 2 year old. But since I was curious and she was right there, I gave it a shot.

It looked OK, but I guess God made Hannah with curly hair, so now that I've sufficed my curiosity, I'll leave her hair alone!

But I guess I haven't warped Hannah completely. Today she actually performed a little for the camera. Shocking since she has learned to hate the sight of it. I thought I'd share a little of her wonderful talent with you all :-)

Finale Week

So I'm so excited about TV this week...and anymore, that doesn't really happen since I'm usually watching Dora, Diego, Wonder Pets, Barney....you get the idea. I'm sorry Miss Hannah, but this week I own the TV (and thank goodness most of my interests are on after bedtime!)
So it started last night with Desparate Housewives. Pretty good seeing the full circle around the story with Dylan. Glad to see Kayla go...what a brat and what would you do if you really had to live with a little girl like that? I'm not so sure I like the "in five years" part at the end. I realize they wanted to leave us hanging with the "not Mike that Susan comes home to", but I thought it was a little cheesey. But overall, I guess it was worth staying up until 11 for!
Of course there's American Idol's finale this week too. David A is good in all, but between his extremely immature mannerisms and the way he licks his lips when he sings, I've got no use for him. I guess if I were to vote (still never have) it would go to David Cook....I really do like him.
Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy are on for Thursday night, another late night, but really looking forward to the stories. Will Betty choose Henry or Geo?? I hope Merideth and Derrick get back together, but that may be too easy of a story line, and where would they go from there? Then the best part of the week after those show are over is that the next day is FRIDAY and then the start of a nice long weekend!!!
